This proposal describes the ElectroniCast Executive Study Service (ESS) Global
Forecast of consumption trends and optoelectronic market in the format of
edge-emitting laser diode based transmitter/receiver pairs (VCSEL-based T/Rs
are forecasted in ElectroniCast' s VCSEL Transceiver Forecast). ElectroniCast
Consultants' series of ESS reports provide clients with summary-level data and
analysis derived from their "parentreport."
The basic assumption is that each receiver has a corresponding transmitter
somewhere in the end use system, and these units are matched in terms of
performance characteristics. Most commonly, they are purchased in matched
quantities, by the producers of the end use equipment and for upgrade
applications. This forecast is based on the complete, final value of the
functional transmitters and receivers.
ElectroniCast' s ESS report presents a 2006-2016 global forecast of consumption
value ($, million) of a listing edge emitter laser diode transmitters and
receivers by configuration and of transmission rates (see Figure 1). The
information is presented in easy-to-follow illustrations, data Tables and
text. Forecast data is provided for each of the three major world regions,
plus a global summary. Trends in high-speed optical communications are
presented.
The report also outlines the market research methodology followed and the key
assumptions made. Market share estimates of the 2006 edge emitter laser diode

METHODOLOGY
