CDMA World Forum - Press release

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) announced the launch of the CDMA World Forum at the GSMA World Congress in Barcelona - a major conference for the CDMA2000 community to be held on 9-11 June in Beijing, China.

With China Telecom confirmed to deliver the keynote presentation at the conference, the CDG and co-organizers Beacon Events plan to bring together operators, infrastructure vendors and handset manufacturers to create a global strategy event, technology exchange and sourcing fair for the CDMA family of wireless standards.

Announcing the launch of the CDMA World Forum, CDG Chief Executive Perry LaForge said, "The CDMA World Forum comes at a very exciting time for the CDMA community, as China Telecom begins to roll out what will be the world's largest CDMA2000 and EV-DO networks to date. This landmark event will provide an opportunity for our global operator and vendor members to learn more about the plans of China Telecom and also to share their experience and expertise with the newest and soon to be largest member of the CDMA community."

Following a day of special interest workshops and operator-only closed-door summit meetings, the main conference will be held over two days on 10-11 June. Following keynote presentations from China Telecom and the leading CDMA2000 operators and vendors, the Forum will feature sessions focused on key issues such as roaming, device availability, emerging applications and services and the roadmap for CDMA operators to OFDM-based technologies such at LTE.

In addition, the Forum will contain four regionally-focused panel sessions, where operators from Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe and the Americas will be present a series of 10 minute showcases on their most successful business models and technological innovations.

Speaking about the regional showcases, CDG Chief Operating Officer James Person said, "CDMA2000 and EV-DO operators continue to impress us with their technological innovation and creative business models. By facilitating sharing and learning from the very best that the CDMA community has to offer, the CDMA World Forum aims to promote a healthy CDMA2000 and EV-DO ecosystem and help our members grow market share in today's competitive marketplace”
