Petteri Alahuhta joined VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland in 1994. At VTT he has been working as research scientist concentrating on embedded systems, leading the knowledge engineering research group with a particular focus on signal analysis and sensor based context recognition in mobile and embedded systems, and as a head of R&D activities in applications of mobile communication at VTT Electronics. He is currently appointed as Technology Manager leading a knowledge at VTT, concentrating on Human Service Interaction and Context Awareness. Main research directions of the knowledge centre of 43 persons include Human Technology Interaction, Mobile and Ubiquitous Services and Context Aware Computing Technologies and Services.

He has been responsible for preparing, managing and executing several national and international research and development projects related to mobile and ubiquitous computing technologies and services. He has also being engaged with consulting processes with Finnish private companies in these topics. In addition to research work , VTT management responsibilities and consulting he is a member of steering group of a 100 M€ technology programme of Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, on value added mobile solutions.

He holds a MSc degree in computer science and engineering and an Executive MBA degree.

David G.W. Birch is a Director of Consult Hyperion, the IT management consultancy that specialises in electronic transactions, where he provides specialist consultancy support to clients around the world. Before helping to found Consult Hyperion in 1986, he spent several years working as a consultant in Europe, the Far East and North America. He graduated from the University of Southampton with a B.Sc (Hons.) in Physics.

Described by The Independent newspaper in 2004 as a "grade-A geek", by the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation in 2005 as "one of the most user-friendly of the UK's uber-techies" and by Financial World in 2006 as "mad", Dave is a member of the editorial board of the E-Finance & Payments Law and Policy Journal and of the advisory board for European Business Review, a columnist for SPEED and UK correspondent to the Journal of Internet Banking and Commerce.

He has lectured to MBA level on the impact of new information and communications technologies, contributed to publications ranging from the Parliamentary IT Review to Grocery Trader and wrote more than 100 Second Sight columns for The Guardian. He is a media commentator on electronic business issues and has appeared on BBC television and radio, Sky and other channels around the world..

David Chan is Vice President of Operations and Advanced Payment Products for MasterCard in South East and South Asia. In this capacity Mr. Chan is responsible for managing all aspects of EMV smart card migration, MasterCard® PayPass™ contactless/mobile payment programs and the MasterCard remittance solution, MasterCard® MoneySendTM for MasterCard customer financial institutions. Mr. Chan oversees the development of these programs in markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Mr. Chan is also responsible for MasterCardfs Internet and Mobile payment solutions within South East and South Asia, including the gMiGSh MasterCard Internet Payment Gateway and gMOASh the MasterCard Online Authentication Service.

Over the years, Mr. Chan has been accredited with successfully launching pioneering products in the advanced payments field including Asiafs first real-time online cross-border remittance solution, MasterCard® MoneySendTM, with DBS in Singapore, and the MasterCard OneSMART PayPass, the worldfs first-and-only internationally accepted contactless EMV payment solution.

Mr. Chan began his career with MasterCard Worldwide in 2005. Prior to joining MasterCard, he held regional management positions with Visa International and VeriFone. Mr. Chan started his career at Price Waterhouse Consulting in the UK, after graduating with honors from the University of Leeds.

Gordon Cooper joined Visa in 1998 and, over a five year period has been responsible for the development of new payment technology in Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Over this time his areas of responsibility have included smart card solutions designed for emerging markets and the migration from magnetic stripe cards to chip-embedded smart cards in advanced markets such as Japan. Cooper also oversaw early tests of mobile payment technology in the Asia Pacific region and managed Visafs first public trial of contactless payment cards in Malaysia.

In 2004, Cooper moved to Ho Chi Minh City to establish Visa's representative office for Vietnam, serving as country manager for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. He subsequently oversaw Visa's operations in Singapore and Brunei before assuming his current post as Regional Head of Mobile Payment in Visa Asia Pacific. In his current role, Cooper has overall responsibility for Visa payment and value-added services across mobile consumer devices.

Originally from Halifax, Canada, Cooper holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Asia specialization from York University and an Honors Degree in Political Science / International Relations from Dalhousie University – both in Canada. Cooper currently resides in Singapore with his wife, Chere, and two sons, Julian and William.

Mr Dominique Descolas,

Dominique joined Veolia Transport (Europe's leading private operator of public transportation) in 2004. He is coordinating Veolia automatic fare collection systems projects, and supervises development of new range of innovative services, especially on mobile phones.

He has initiated Veolia NFC field trials (2005 in Nice, 2007 in Provence district, 2008 in Bordeaux). He is in charge of Bpass program (Veolia gsolutionh for services on mobile phone, ticketing + passenger information + infotainment), which will be launched commercially in Nice (France) in spring 2010.

Before joining Veolia, Dominique worked for 15 years in electronic transactions (for Gemalto, Parkeon, and Sema), in marketing, business development and general management.

Claire started her career with British Telecommunications Plc in London, during which time she held a variety of positions in business strategy, business development and her last role in London was as product manager of BTfs portable mobile satellite service which was jointly offered with Telenor. In 2000, Claire was seconded to Maxis Malaysia and was responsible for the Maxis prepaid product migration to an Intelligent Network platform and the deployment of other key initiatives within the fast growing Hotlink Prepaid segment. In 2002, Claire left BT to join Maxis and project managed multiple new product rollouts & in 2004 Claire returned to Product Management with responsibility for Prepaid and Enhanced Voice Product portfolio. In 2005, Claire started her involvement in the fascinating area of M-Commerce and is currently heading the M-Commerce team within Maxis. Her current responsibilities include managing the Maxis M-money service, Mobile International Remittance, NFC implementation and developing the overall M-Commerce strategy for Maxis.

Jonathon Gould is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Asia-Pacific Connections (APC), where he managed their consulting practice in the banking and technology sectors. His clients include payment associations, financial institutions, consulting firms, retailers, and technology companies primarily in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. He has over 25 years of sales, marketing and general management experience in the finance and technology sectors, including 15 years in Asia-Pacific, 2 years in Europe and 10 years in the US.

Until June 2008, he was Vice President; Asia-Pacific for ViVOtech and spearheaded their efforts to establish themselves as a leading NFC and contactless provider in the AP region.

From mid 2000 until May 2002, Mr. Gould, based in Brussels, and was Senior Vice President, Business Development, Maestro International.

From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Gould was Senior Vice President, Marketing for MasterCard in Asia-Pacific where he led their regional support programs including advertising and promotions, sponsorships, communications, new product development, acceptance development, and market research.

Prior to joining MasterCard, Mr. Gould was the General Manager, Asia-Pacific, for VeriFone.

Mr Aneace Haddad,

Aneace has spent 25 years focusing on the moment of purchase. He is an expert in creatively enhancing payment transactions with real-time marketing features. Aneace has launched several start-ups and is the author of two payment strategy books and numerous articles published in banking magazines and journals.

Aneace has just founded his most recent venture, Taggo, a Singapore based start-up that adds mobile tap and go convenience and one-step enrollment to loyalty, prepaid and other membership programs. In 1996, Aneace founded Welcome Real-time, a global provider of payment software with bank customers in 21 countries. In 1992, Aneace founded the company that launched the worldfs first smart card couponing system, PromoCarte and signed deals with 30 consumer product companies, including Nestle, Procter & Gamble, Colgate and others.

Aneace has also filed numerous patents and acquired substantial expertise in the use of patents to create a global competitive advantage. In 2001, he managed and won an infringement lawsuit against a competitor in the US and Australia, establishing patent jurisprudence in the process.

Yuichiro Kadowaki,

Yuichiro Kadowaki is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing JCB. EMVCo LLC was formed in February 1999 by Europay, MasterCard and Visa to manage, maintain and enhance the EMV™ Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems. With the acquisition of Europay by MasterCard in 2002, JCB joining the organisation in 2004 and American Express joining the organisation in 2009, EMVCo is currently operated by American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa.

EMVCo's primary role is to manage, maintain and enhance the EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications to ensure interoperability and acceptance of payment system integrated circuit cards on a worldwide basis. EMVCo is also responsible for type approval processes for terminal compliance testing and Common Core Definitions (CCD) and Common Payment Application (CPA) card compliance testing. These testing processes ensure that a single terminal and card approval process is developed at a level that will allow cross payment system interoperability through compliance with the EMV specifications.

Within JCB, Yuichiro is Senior Vice President of Brand Infrastructure & Technology unit of JCB. He is head of the group that is responsible for the overall EMV related schemes, services, specifications and operations to better control and improve the quality and security for EMV chip card transactions. Such responsibilities include certification of card products equipped with J/Smart™ and/or J/Speedy™ (JCBfs EMV compliant contact/contactless application), J/Smart™ and/or J/Speedy™ implementation testing for acceptance devices and chip cards, as well as operation of the Certificate Authority and associated key managements.

Mr Christoph Koessler,

Christoph graduated in 1995 in environmental sciences at the university of agricultural sciences in Vienna (austria). Afterwards he joined as scientist for renewable energy, especially energy crops. After five years of scientific research, Christoph switched into the mobile telephony business and joined the Austrian mobile operator mobilkom austria in 2000. Until 2006 he was market analyst where he was in charge of international market research, as well as emerging technologies and new services.

With the advent of mobile contactless services in 2006, he focused on near field communication (NFC). In 2007, Christoph became product manager for mobile transport ticketing in department m-Commerce and the project lead for NFC.

Mr Boon Heong Lim,

LIM Boon Heong has joined INSIDE Contactless to help develop the positioning of the companyfs emerging NFC business, across multiple market segments in the mobile telecommunications industry. His charter is to enhance the companyfs positioning throughout the NFC market in Asia.

Boon Heong has spent more than nine years in the smart card industry working for Gemplus Technologies Asia based in Singapore. He has a wealth of telecommunications experience - having started out as Asia Pacific Technical Manager; later becoming Regional Marketing Director for the Telecom Business Unit; and ultimately becoming the Head of the Telecom Business Unit for the South and East Asia region, where he was in charge of all sales, marketing and technical support activities, with profit and loss responsibility. He has also held senior positions with ST Electronics and Singapore Air Force, prior to joining Gemplus.

Boon Heong studied Electronic Engineering in France on a Singapore Government scholarship. He obtained his engineering degree from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne in 1984, and he completed his Masterfs Degree in Engineering at the University of Renne II that same year. He speaks fluent French, in addition to English and Mandarin.

Mr Lim was the Chief Technology Officer of NETS from 2000 – 2005 where he was responsible for the development and expansion of NETSf successful ePurse program, CashCard, other payment services, products and infrastructure for the physical world and the virtual world.

Having been in the IT industry for more than 25 years, Mr Lim has extensive experience in Business IT alignment, IT strategy formulation, IT architecture design, technology management, large scale systems development and project management. Mr Lim has worked with internet computing, mobile computing and smart card based technologies.

Mr. Lim also sits on the Cards & Personal Identification Technical Committee (CPITC) under the Singapore IT Standards Committee.

In this capacity, the responsibility includes setting up the Information Services Department including establishment of Central Clearing House System (CCHS) to support implementation of Touch en Go EPS. Also responsible to streamline the companyfs Electronic Payment Operations with additional responsibilities including EPS Operations, Customer Service and Systems Security.

Established and successfully delivered the required Service Level to the participating Service Providers & Merchants and these leads to the acceptance of Touch en Go system as the sole and common electronic payment for toll expressways and public transportation.

Started the involvements in Marketing and Business Development activities starting from January 2005 to further increase acceptance of Touch en Go Electronic Payment System. Also responsible to drive all aspects of business development for existing and future products/services for the company i.e. formulating business strategy, developing concept and plan including business and market analysis for commercialization.

Srinivas Nidugondi has over Eleven years of experience in areas of business planning, product management and market development across the payment industry and the financial services sector. He has handled various emerging technologies and alternate distribution channels and specializes in the Mobile & Internet domains from a banking perspective. Srinivas played a key role in formulating the mobile strategy for ICICI Bank and has launched Indiafs first client based mobile banking product. He has worked on various alternate channel initiatives that includes the launch of Indiafs first intelligent cash acceptance kiosk that performs instant credit to the customer account. Currently Srinivas heads the direct banking product – B2 – which is the first online only product offering in India. Outside of work, Srinivas has keen interest in travelling across India and is an avid reader and is well versed with the history of Indic culture. Srinivas is a commerce graduate and holds an MBA from a premier Indian business school.

Mr. Nyholm has a background of working within the mobile industry for 10 years and IT Security sector for 12 years and specializing in Public Key Infrastructure solutions. Prior to joining SmartTrust, Mr. Nyholm worked as IT Security Manager at Nordbanken heading the IT Security Group. Prior that he has been working as a Security Consultant at Infosec, Systems Manager at Hewlett-Packard and Security Expert within the Swedish National Taxboard.

Mr Silvester Prakasam,

Mr Prakasam has degrees in Science (Statistics) and Engineering (Electrical). He was with the Singapore Airlines for 10 years, working in various departments involved in technical support and development work, before joining the Mass Rapid Transit Corporation in 1983. There, he was involved in the building of the first rapid transit system for Singapore.

Since 1989, he has been involved in ticketing systems and several initiatives, the first of which was the Integrated Ticketing System which provided a common fare structure for the entire public transport network.

In 1994, he spearheaded trials on the Contactless Smart Card and launched the Enhanced Integrated Fare System project for the public transport system in 1998. Mr Prakasam was the Project Director for this project which implemented a common smart card system across the public transport network at a total cost of US$200m in 2002. To date, 10 million cards have been issued.

He is now leading a team to replace the current system with a new open system which will merge the payment infrastructure for Public Transport and congestion pricing. For this purpose new standard specification based on microprocessor cards called CEPAS was developed in partnership with leading card suppliers. The system was launched successfully in January 2009.The total current card base of 15 million memory cards will be progressively replaced by Type B microprocessor cards by October 2009.

He is also actively involved in various National Committees in the promotion of e-payments and related standards.

Mr Craig Richman,

Craig Richman is responsible for product and project management of mobile Visa payWave within the Asia Pacific region. Craig works closely with Visafs clients, partners and technology vendors on the planning and execution of pilot implementations and is also leading initiatives to commercialize Visa payWave on near field communication (NFC)-enabled mobile devices.

Craig joined Visa in August 2007 after four years in financial clearing and settlement of international mobile roaming traffic, where he helped set up an operations centre to service the Asia Pacific region. He spent four years with IT consulting firm Consult Hyperion which included work on the Hong Kong smart ID card project. His previous roles have also included product development in the area of smart cards and public key infrastructure.

Dr. Andreas Schauer,

Dr. Andreas Schauer currently serves as Product Line Manager, Mobile Payments at Giesecke&Devrient (G&D) where he is responsible for overseeing G&Dfs mobile payment product line within Cards&Services. Prior to this role, Dr. Schauer held positions in the companyfs Industry and Government division and Strategic Marketing division where he was responsible for the coordination of all cross divisional JavaCard and GlobalPlatform activities within G&D.

Dr. Schauer currently represents G&D within the NFC Forum and Mobey Forum where he is also an active member of the Marketing Task Force. He is closely aligned with GlobalPlatform and has followed the activities of its Mobile Task Force, particularly since the beginning of 2009 when the Embedded Secure Element Sub Task Force was created.

Mr Frederic Schepens,

Frédéric Schepens joined Belgacom on 2 January 1997 and is now Executive Vice President Strategic Business Development.

Frédéric held several management roles within Belgacom, one of which was Director of Mobile & xSP, taking care of all the Mobile & xSP solutions worldwide. Before that Frédéric lived for 5.5 years in Asia where he founded and managed the companies for Belgacom in the Asia Pacific region.

Frédéric has played a key role in spearheading Belgacom International Carrier Services, which provides IP, Data & Voice services to Fixed Line Operators, ISPfs and Mobile Operators, to become one of the leading voice carries in the world.

Prior to joining Belgacom, Frédéric was in the core teams of setting up mobile operators in the Netherlands and in Belgium, which gives him a telecom experience of over 13 years.

Frédéric obtained a Bachelor in Business Administration in Antwerp and an MBA in Paris.

Mr Rob Schuurman,

Rob Schuurman is General Manager of Nedap Healthcare, part of Nedap N.V., a company which operates world-wide and is quoted on the Stock Exchange.

Following his studies in Electrical Energy Technology and Electrical Power Engineering, he worked in general management, in a number of different capacities. He joined Nedap Healthcare at the beginning of 2004.

At the end of 2005, his team integrated the NFC phone into the iO concept. At the start of 2006, with 700 nurses using this innovative solution, his team achieved a world first. At this moment the iO concept is in use by more then 40.000 nurses.

Jarkko has been working in Nokia for more than 10 years, mostly in various product management positions related to mobile phones and new consumer applications. For the last 5 years he has been strongly involved in driving NFC forward within Nokia. He has been closely involved with all the NFC products Nokia has created, and he has had a close view to most of the NFC related trials and customer projects around the globe where Nokia has been involved. Since 2007 he has been driving Nokia's NFC related business development activities in South-East Asia region.

Koichi Tagawa is the General Manager of Global Standards and Industry Relations Dept. , that is in charge of technology standards and technology industry relations of the FeliCa Business. Since 2002, he supported the popularization of NFC and FeliCa as a headquarter member from the standardization point of view. He actively contributed to establish NFC Forum, and has been taking on the position of the vice chairman from the beginning and still today. He enthusiastically continues to contribute to the enhancement of NFC Eco-system throughout the contactless application industry.

Feza Tarhan is the Business Development, Rules and Regulations Director of Interbank Card Center, which aims to improve the card payment system infrastructure for the benefit of all Turkish banks. She has built and led Interbank Card Centerfs Trusted Service Manager role in the NFC Ecosystem in the past two years. She works proactively with card payment system players, and consistently looks for opportunities to improve the payment system infrastructure by developing new services, facilitating card/payment market governance, making sector level policy and setting domestic rules and regulations for the card payment sector. She specialises in helping card payment sector players to develop new services utilizing the benefits of new technologies and products. She has over fifteen years of experience in the banking, finance and IT sectors. Mrs. Tarhan holds a BSc and MSc degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from the Istanbul Technical University. She is married with two children and cinema is her most passionate hobby.

Michael Walters is a Director operating out of EDCfs Singapore and Sydney offices, and has over 20 years experience in senior management and payments / cards consulting roles in Asia Pacific, North America and Europe, specializing in emerging payments / technologies and payments infrastructure. After commencing his career with the management consulting division of Deloitte Haskins + Sells in 1989, he co-founded management consulting firm Electronic Trading Concepts (now part of Cybertrust), then smart card and loyalty systems provider Catuity, and finally Cards etc (now part of Card Access Services), a software firm that developed the leading smart card management system (Arterium) used by financial institutions, corporations / governments and mobile carriers.

Michael has long specialized in the planning and implementation of new payment products and technologies, including numerous early debit card, prepaid card, smart card, contactless smart card, internet and mobile payment projects. Clients have typically operated in the financial services, transit / transport, retail / wholesale, government, telecommunications and travel/tourism sectors, with projects conducted in fifteen Asia Pacific markets, as well as Europe, North America and Africa.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University majoring in information technology and management accounting, and has written and spoken widely on emerging payments and related technologies.

Following graduation from the Nottingham Business School in 2000 with a BA Hons in Financial Service, Neill was recruited as a Global Change Manager in BT Wireless for Genie a leading global mobile and internet portal provider.

In 2001 he transferred to BT Cellnet as a 3G project manager with responsibility for managing the central programme office in the co-ordination of all delivery aspects of the 3G programme across the organisation.

Following the launch of 3G in 2005, Neill was recruited in the Devices directorate within O2 UK initially as the SIM Product Manager, and has now assumed additional responsibilities as Head of SIM & OTA.

In addition to a BA Hons, Neill has attained a Diploma in Management (2003) and a Master of Business Administration of the Open University (2006).

Mr Keita Yamada,
Senior Manager - International Alliance & Sales, South East Asia Region, Sales Department, FeliCa Business Division,
Sony Corporation
Keita Yamada is responsible for international business development and sales through alliance activities for Sony's contactless smart card technology "FeliCa". Before he joined Sony in 2007, he worked with NTT DoCoMo for global investment and alliance, including his secondment to Hutchison 3G UK in England.
Ms Lai Chang Ying,
Vice President, Consumer Products,
SingTel

Ying Lai Chang was appointed Vice President of Consumer Products on 1 January 2008. She is responsible for developing all consumer related products and services for fixed line, mobile and broadband. She concurrently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of SingNet, SingTelfs wholly owned subsidiary and Singaporefs leading Internet Service Provider.

During her 30 years with SingTel, Lai Chang has held various roles involving customer service, account management, product management, strategic planning, corporate planning and regulatory management. She was the Vice President of Consumer Sales before assuming her current role.

She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) degree from the University of Singapore and an MBA degree from the National University of Singapore.

Mr Jukka Yliuntinen,
Chief Marketing Officer,
Venyon Oy
Mr. Jukka Yliuntinen, Chief Marketing Officer, heads the Sales & Marketing at Venyon. He joined Venyon in the beginning of 2007, when company was established and he is located in Helsinki, Finland. Jukka has over 10 year experience on smart cards and related solutions including for example SIM cards, payment cards, smart identification documents, security and personalization solutions. He has presented papers and given presentations on numerous mobile, payment and identification conferences both in Europe and APAC. Before joining Venyon Jukka was heading the ID Product and Solution Management at Gemalto.
Mr Chul-min Yun,
Deputy Director, Financial Solution Team, Mobile Convergence Business Department,
Korea Telecom

Chul-min Yun is the Deputy Director of Financial Solution Team, Mobile Convergence Business Department, at Korea Telecom. Since 2002, he has been in charge of the mobile financial business strategy and new business based on USIM (NFC).

Chul-min has a Masters in Business Administration at Korea University.
