Abstract
AMA Research have published the 5th edition of the report "Contract
Floorcoverings Market - UK 2008-2012". The report incorporates original
research and provides a comprehensive review of the demand for a range of
floorcoverings products in non-domestic applications.
Product areas covered in the report include:
- Carpets - tufted, woven, carpet tiles, etc.
- Vinyl - sheeting and tiles.
- Ceramic Tiles - glazed, unglazed & porcelain.
- Wood/Laminates - solid & engineered wood, laminates.
- Specialist Industrial Flooring - resins, cementitious screeds, etc.
- Others - including linoleum, rubber, natural stone, terrazzo & cork.
In 2007, the contract market for floorcoverings was estimated to be over
£1 billion at manufacturers prices. Historically less prone to
volatility than the domestic market, contract floorcoverings have continued to
exhibit moderate rates of growth over the last 2-3 years. These growth rates
have been stimulated by good performance of key end-use sectors such as
offices, health and education, but have also been influenced by changing
product mix within the total market.
The report analyses overall market trends, mix between products, supply and
distribution structures etc, while reviewing the key factors influencing these
issues and future prospects for the market.
Areas of particular interest:
- Recent market trends and future prospects up to 2012.
- Continuing good performance by vinyl and increasing importance of carpet
tiles.
- Contract woods performed less well and continuing decline of contract
broadloom carpets.
- Greater emphasis on "added value" products such as anti-slip, anti-static
coatings, etc.
- Detailed review of end use applications - offices, retail, leisure,
health, education etc.
