Product overview

Network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) are putting more emphasis on their network management systems (NMS) to help service providers manage increasingly complex networks and services. The global market for NMS was $4 billion in 2007 and will grow with a CAGR of 7% to reach $5.6 billion in 2012. This growth will be led by NMS for residential broadband, the market for which is forecast to grow with a CAGR of 12%. The market for mobile and business services NMS will grow with a CAGR of 7%, while PSTN will decline with a CAGR of -21%.

The NMS market is dominated by the large NEMs Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks, which have a combined overall share of 61%. Huawei is an increasingly important NEM, and just surpassed Cisco to take fourth place. Nortel rounds out the top six. Ericsson leads in mobile NMS, Alcatel-Lucent leads in residential broadband NMS and Cisco leads in business services.

This 56-page report provides a detailed five-year forecast for NMS by service: mobile, residential broadband, business services and PSTN, further broken down by region: North America; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and the rest of the world.
