Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Air pollution mitigation is a field that encompasses a wealth of technological innovation and a very large number of disparate companies. Entities that offer one limited type of air pollution mitigation device generally do not span multiple categories or offer a variety of applications. They remain with their highly specialized niche product offerings.

This field includes detection, prevention and control devices and associated innovations and processes. Because air quality is a highly regulated area, the air pollution mitigation product industry has grown rapidly over the course of several decades. This expansion is anticipated to become wider due to very recent environmental edicts worldwide, including aggressive air pollution cap targets recently adopted by California.

Because specific mitigation technologies are rather isolated, it is important to understand air pollution issues in a broader context that includes all mitigation categories as well as various applications and product categories. International air quality regulations vary widely, and companies that conduct business on a global basis must comply with local and regional air quality regulations, as well as other international standards set by organizations such as the ISO and the UNCCC.

This study explores the broader context of the air pollution mitigation market, its drivers and growth patterns and future anticipated market growth broken out in a variety of logically organized categories.

SCOPE OF STUDY

This report contains:

  • An overview of the air pollution mitigation industry, including definitions, historical information, market trends and growth patterns, and detailed information about market drivers
  • Current and forecasted data for the industry to 2012, detailing sectors such as detection, control, and prevention
  • A review of important technologies like noxious air monitors, gas and smoke analysis, non-dispersive infrared analyzers (NDIA), gas chromatography, ozone detection, and radiation meters
  • An analysis of important patents and company profiles.

INFORMATION SOURCES

On the subject of air pollution, there also were a number of readily available government and nonprofit research and information resources. All information contained within this report was independently verified to ensure consistency of information and accuracy.
