Abstract

INTRODUCTION

METHODOLOGY

A comprehensive literature, patent, and Internet search was undertaken and key industry players were contacted. Growth rates were calculated based on existing equipment sales and proposed sales during the forecast period. Consumables used in competitive processes, such as replacement membranes, resins, etc., were also taken into account. Values are given in U.S. dollars; forecasts are made in constant U.S. dollars, and average annual growth rates are compounded.

Market size estimates are based on estimated ozone generator sales and predicted sales. Calculations do not include auxiliary gas contacting or delivery equipment and do not include design or engineering costs. The capital cost of ozone as applied to municipal and industrial-scale water treatment is broken into four broad categories dependent on plant size as outlined in Table 15. Capital equipment cost for air and gas treatment systems is figured at $300 for a residential unit and $800 for a commercial unit, medians calculated by averaging prices from five different manufacturers. Medical ozone generators are estimated to cost an average of about $1,000 based on data from two manufacturers.
