Demand for PDAs is moving beyond the early adopter and mobile professional market into the mainstream consumer and corporate markets as new features and processing speeds are integrated into the devices. This report compiles research and analyses on the worldwide PDA market during 2002 and provides a forecast of unit shipments, revenues, and regional segmentation from 2001 to 2006. Processor market shares and revenues are forecasted as well as internal memory. The report also provides profiles of major vendors and their products and discusses market trends.
In-Stat/MDR will be including in its coverage of the PDA market those products that are focused on the consumer and corporate markets. Coverage will not include those PDAs specifically designed for industrial or retail vertical markets, or "smartphone" products that are sold only by wireless service providers or manufactured by a traditional mobile phone manufacturer. Other messaging products such as Research in Motion's (RIM) messaging devices will also not be included. However, PDAs with "phone" capabilities that are manufactured by traditional PDA manufacturers such as Handspring, Hewlett-Packard, and Palm are included. |
