Wainhouse Research and In-Stat have compiled the first comprehensive,
worldwide forecast for the unified communications products and unified
communications services market.
This forecast includes products and/or services from the following segments:
- Presence and instant messaging (including mobile UC clients)
- Telephony (PBXs- IP and TDM, IP Centrex, and broadband VoIP)
- Audio conferencing (bridges and bridging services)
- Web collaboration (premise-based and hosted solutions)
- Team workspaces (premise-based)
- Unified messaging
- Videoconferencing (bridges, bridging services, group and desktop
endpoints, and telepresence)
We have created two forecast documents to reflect the broad nature of the
unified communications market: the UC Products Forecast and the UC Services
Forecast. This document contains the UC services market forecast. Pending any
unforeseen calamities, either natural or manmade, we believe that the entire
unified communications market will be $8.8 billion in 2007, growing to $24.2
billion by 2012. The compound annual growth rate over this period is estimated
at 24.9% with very high growth rates in both broadband IP telephony and hosted
VoIP; compound annual growth in conferencing services is expected to approach
7%.
