Abstract
Summary
The satellite market continues to grow and expand, albeit in an idiosyncratic
way. In more mature markets, growth rates, while slower, remain positive-
being spurred forward by bundled and premium services such as HD. In North
America, HD, in particular, is important where each provider has at least 30
HD channels available to subscribers. In addition, these strategies help
reduce churn by increasing switching costs and increasing ARPU. In less mature
markets, growth is coming in the way of new DTH platforms- countries like
India, South Africa, Poland, Romania, Russia and regions like Latin America
have seen, and will continue to see, new launches to help drive satellite
growth.
In aggregate, the DTH pay-TV market is expected to continue growing with a
subscriber CAGR of 7.6% from 2006 to 2011 and a revenue total eclipsing US$ 96
billion in 2011. The report breaks down these top line forecasts into regions
and provides country-level discussions with current subscriber data points by
provider.
