Abstract
This report provides trends in upholstered furniture production and
consumption in 17 Western European countries. It also covers international
trade flows, prices, marketing policies, commercial distribution. The European
production of upholstered furniture is broken down by covering materials
(fabric, microfibre, leather), price range (economic, economic to medium,
medium, medium to upper, upper), product type (groups, sectional, sofas, sofa
beds, occasional chairs), style (classic, modern, traditional) and destination
(domestic or office/contract).
The analysis of upholstered furniture distribution channels by country
includes: independent furniture retailers, buying groups and associations,
furniture chains, upholstery specialist retailers and franchising, department
stores and contract. Data on the major household furniture distributors are
provided for each country with number of outlets and, if available, turnover
and market shares.
A breakdown of upholstered furniture sales by country, covering materials,
price range, product type, style and destination is available for the main
companies. Short profiles of the most representative upholstered furniture
