Abstract
Flat panel displays including LCD, PDP and OLED utilize transparent electrode
that is transparent to visible rays and is conductive, are adopted and the
most representative one is ITO (Indium tin Oxide). But Indium metal itself
that is the ingredient that comprises the largest portion in the ITO raw
material has problems including: extremely limited quantity, high price and
unstable supply & demand.
Because of these problems, Touch Screen Panel which currently reflects rapid
growth is undergoing with active development activities for ITO replacement
such as ZnO, CNT and ATO. In TFT-LCD panel industry, ITO replacement
development activities have been constantly revisited. Recently because of
technological issues, penetration of IZO and Mo(Ti) centered in TFT array
substrate is getting higher and there are products launched that do not use
ITO in case of PDP.
Global ITO Target demands for 2008 grew 22% Y/Y to 930 tons. Among these,
about 94% was used in TFT-LCD and 5% for PDP and 1% for Touch screen panel.
ITO Target demand for 2009 is expected to record 16% CAGR to exceed 1,000 tons
for the first time and continue to show 16% CAGR until 2013.
Through "In-Depth Analysis: Display-use ITO Target Industry Trends",
Displaybank offers analysis and forecast for the overall ITO industry
including ITO Target demands & shipment trends and ITO replacement development
