Abstract

Background

This report analyzes the second quarter 2008 financial results of six OEMs within the wireless infrastructure equipment sector: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia Siemens Networks, Nortel Networks and ZTE. We have also included a non-financial update for Huawei Technologies.

A complete analysis of wireless infrastructure contract awards by OEM is available from our BTSCON series of quarterly and annual reports. In addition, a complete market share analysis and forecast of base stations (BTS) and BTS transceivers (TRx) is also available.

Second Quarter 2008 Financials

With the second quarter of 208 now over, we analyze how well the major wireless infrastructure OEMs performed.

This analysis covers the following wireless OEMs:

  • Alcatel-Lucent
  • Ericsson
  • Motorola
  • Nokia Siemens Networks
  • Nortel Networks
  • ZTE

Segmented Financials-Wireless Only

While both Alcatel-Lucent and Nortel Networks break out their wireless carrier infrastructure revenues, Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia Siemens Networks do not. We have made estimates for what we believe to be are the representative of their wireless-only revenues. ZTE breaks out semi annual and annual wireless carrier infrastructure revenues.

Revenues converted to USD for these six OEMs totaled USD $13.8 billion in the second quarter of 2008, up 14.5% year over year when compared with revenues of USD $12.1 billion for the second quarter of 2007. Second quarter 2008 revenues were up 9.9% sequentially from revenues of USD $12.6 billion.
