Abstract
This Energy Insights report examines the market for small stationary fuel
cells, ranging in size from 1kW to 20kW. The market for small stationary fuel
cell applications continues to grow steadily in 2006, albeit slowly. Sustained
governmental support and incentives, greenhouse gas mandate-induced demand,
increased partnership and collaboration, technology dynamism, and the prospect
of formalized product standards are, however, bolstering segment activity while
reigniting investments. After evaluating the macrolevel factors affecting the
small fuel cell sector, this report profiles 12 leading manufacturers and
developers.
According to Nadav Enbar, research analyst, Energy Insights, "Government
activity remains the primary demand driver of small fuel cell applications.
However, a recent uptick in private investment is helping to produce
incremental technology advances. As a result, the industry is becoming a more
viable residential CHP and backup power solution."
