The focus of this report is Danaher' s Medical Technologies business which
forms part of the company' s Professional Instrumentation segment. Danaher
formed the Medical Technologies business in 2004 by acquiring Kaltenbach &
Voigt (KaVo), Dentsply International' s Gendex business and Radiometer. This
report provides a full review of the company' s activities.
Headquartered in Washington DC, USA, Danaher designs, manufactures and markets
a diverse array of industrial and consumer products, typically with strong
brand names, proprietary technology and significant market positions.
Danaher' s Medical Technologies business comprises the following companies:
Radiometer, a Danish manufacturer of diagnostic equipment focused on
critical care applications for the measurement of blood gases in point-of-care
(POC) locations and hospital laboratories. In October 2005, Radiometer
acquired Linde Medical Sensors, a Swiss manufacturer of transcutaneous
measuring products.
KaVo, a German manufacturer of dental equipment, including handpieces,
treatment units, diagnostic systems and dental laboratory equipment.
Gendex, a US manufacturer of digital imaging dental products, including
intraoral and panoramic X-ray machines, digital radiography systems, intraoral
cameras and film processors.
Sybron Dental Specialties, a US manufacturer of consumable dental
products for orthodontics, endodontics and implantology and a variety of
infection prevention products.
Leica Microsystems, a German manufacturer of imaging systems,
microscopy, pathology diagnostics and surgical microscopes used in life
science and related applications.
Pelton & Crane, a US provider of dental equipment, including treatment
units, lights, sterilisers and cabinetry for dental professionals.
