Abstract

This IDC Financial Insights report examines the features that will shape the new generation of retail Internet banking offerings among Asia/Pacific financial institutions. The report highlights emerging best practices in the use of these new features and functionalities as banks strive to enhance their online propositions.

Michael Araneta, senior consulting and research manager at IDC Financial Insights Asia/Pacific remarks, "The requirements in banks' Internet banking wish lists are ultimately meant to enhance the customer experience online. Expect the introduction of personal financial management tools, integrated landing pages, interface customization, advanced search capabilities, and suggestions at point of interaction, as well as more focus on activity analytics. These will transform the online banking experience as we know it."

Araneta continues, "The emergence of Web 2.0 technologies will require an iterative development of new-generation online banking offerings. This will require a mindset change among teams responsible for strategy, development, and production. Furthermore, the emergence of new Internet banking features and their attending requirements for back-end integration, multichannel consistency, security, and support for Web 2.0 will mean a broadening of the vendor landscape."
