Abstract
There is a major trend at present to make buildings more energy-efficient,
reducing their usage of fossil fuels for heating and cooling especially. There
are many ways that this can be achieved, including for example the use of
renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and wind turbines. Another
key component of this broad trend is the use of building materials that are
designed to improve the thermal insulation characteristics of buildings. This
research analyses the demand for all such materials across Europe.
