Abstract
Market concentration can be explained by the historical landscape of the
Brazilian telecommunications market which was run by the State until the last
decade and that only recently has the system been open to competitors apart
from the debut four incumbents, which inherited the previous state-run
structure. Also, with the convergence between all telecommunication services,
triple play offers and IPTV, this market is expected to become more and more
concentrated in the four main competitors.
