Abstract
This Government Insights report is an annual five-year forecast for external IT
spending in the federal government. This includes breakouts by hardware,
software, and IT services, plus details on total IT spending by agency. By
focusing this forecast specifically on federal hardware, software, and IT
services, Government Insights allows vendors to make accurate comparisons of IT
spending across government agencies.
"We expect to see a restoration of IT spending budgets for federal civilian
agencies, with much of it trickling down to client machines and new
departmental services," said Shawn P. McCarthy, director of Infrastructure
Optimization and Vendor programs at Government Insights. "This should give new
energy to civilian IT projects at a time when system upgrades are much needed."
