Abstract
This Government Insights (GI) study looks at the wide variety of IT suppliers
in the Asia/Pacific government systems integration services market. The study
seeks to investigate the dynamics of this marketplace and understand the top
local suppliers in the systems integration markets of public sectors in
countries such as Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, and Singapore. The top local
systems integrators (SIs) with the highest contract wins were selected from
GI' s specialized tracking system that compiles the total Asia/Pacific
Government Technology Contracts annually.
"The role of SI changes in the marketplace. This is even more so for vendors
that are closely located and involved in their local administrations," says
Gerald Wang, market analyst, Government Insights, IDC Asia/Pacific. "Local
vendors play a pivotal role in understanding their government needs. They are
expected to participate in higher value-added activities such as systems design
and planning, which require them to move beyond their traditional SI roles
toward managing the process of integration and providing business process
knowledge."
