Abstract
This IDC study focuses on the government sector in Australia,
providing a map of where short- and longer-term opportunities can
be found and highlighting the purchasing patterns for products and
services by market. This study is part of a series
report focusing on specific vertical markets. Actual ICT market sizing
and IT market shares are provided for 2008 along with
the forecasts in 20082013, including the compound annual growth rates
(CAGRs).
"Whilst it is expected that commercial organisations look towards cost-cutting
measures to survive, governments are expected to boost spending in
order to stimulate demand. Citizens are looking for government leadership
in rebuilding the economy, supporting their needs, and keeping them
informed. Successful governments are actively making policy changes to counteract
the effects of the economic downturn and the Australian government
is no exception. To be effective, the government must ensure
all their initiatives are citizen centric, efficient, competitive, analytic, secure
and innovative," says Melissa Martin, senior market analyst, IT Spending
and Vertical Markets, IDC Australia.
