Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese
report IDC #J9360106) includes database development/management systems (a functional segment
in the database management software market) in our analyses. Accompanying
this change, we also revised the title of the study
from Japan Database Management Systems 20092013 Forecast and 2008 Analysis
to Japan Database Management Software Market 2008 and 20092013 Forecast.
The scope of analysis remains unchanged and covers the entire
scope of past reports. In this study, IDC observes that
the Japan database management software market decreased in 2008 but
forecasts that it will pick up in 2010 and maintain
steady growth until 2013.
"The spending appetite of user companies for
database systems tends to be greatly influenced by the economic
situation surrounding companies. To remain as a leader in the
market, the ability to adapt speedily to the rapidly changing
economic situation is necessary. IDC believes that vendors should continue
to invest in the necessary manpower, resources, and technologies to
strengthen their core competencies," says Kazuhiko Inouye, research manager, Software,
IDC Japan.
