Abstract
This IDC study offers a look at the current state
of IPTV services in the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan), or APEJ,
region, with highlights and trends from individual markets. It also
focuses on the potential of offering an IPTV service, examining
drivers, inhibitors, and business models. This study covers the 11
key markets tracked by IDC Asia/Pacific' s fixed-line tracker: Australia, Hong
Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, the People' s republic of
China (PRC), Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.
"Apart from the PRC, Korea,
Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan, IPTV continues to be at
the early adopter stage in most APEJ markets as issues
relating to building up the network infrastructure with sufficient bandwidth,
securing adequate content and overcoming regulatory hurdles remain," says Kenneth
Liew, senior market analyst, Communications Research, IDC Asia/' Pacific.
