Abstract
This IDC study analyzes the consulting and systems integration (C&SI)
services market in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ. This study
is a follow-up to last year' s Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Consulting
and Systems Integration 20082012 Forecast and Analysis: Emerging Challenges of
Aligning IT with Business (IDC #AP221104Q, May 2008). IDC estimates
that the C&SI market in APEJ will experience a compound
annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.5 % between 2009 and
2013. The market is expected to grow from US$14.56 billion
in 2008 to US$20.89 billion in 2013. However, in the
immediate short term, IDC expects the IT C&SI services market
to remain largely flat in 2009 with a mere 0.3%
year-on-year growth.
"We are possibly at the trough of IT services
slowdown in the region. There are ' green shoots' (e.g., improved
exports and industrial production figures) visible across the region, as
recent quarterly government reports suggest," says Mayur Sahni, senior market
analyst, IT Services Opportunities, IDC Asia/Pacific. Although there has been
increased scrutiny of budget allocations for IT services and delay
in projects, businesses are actually investing in IT solutions essentially
because these are critical to their long-term strategic road maps,"
he adds.
IDC expects vendors that are able to comprehend and
delivery on long-term business strategies have experienced success and will
be best placed to further strengthen their positions once the
IT services growth rate accelerates.
