Abstract
This IDC study discusses the current trends and developments in
the India telecommunications services market in 2008. It also provides
an insight into the key forecast assumptions for the market
from 2009 to 2013.
Broadband over DSL is expected to remain
the key technology in the coming years. The advent of
wireless technologies such as 3G and WiMAX will also create
their own niches, as they offer numerous advantages over legacy
networks.
"The increasing demand for a number of telecommunications services in
the country will provide a lot of opportunities for growth.
Growth in next couple of years will come from a
mix of legacy and new age technologies," says Naveen Mishra,
research manager, Communications Research, IDC India.
