Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese
report IDC #J9030109) analyzes the demand-side networking equipment trends found
in IDC' s survey on enterprise networking equipment utilization trends, which
involved 823 respondent companies. The survey covered topics such as
the current state of enterprise networks, networking equipment utilization trends,
enterprise networking issues, and enterprise network spending trends.
"Despite the importance
of low power consumption and energy conservation as a product
selection criterion, product effectiveness in this regard as a point
of differentiation is expected to gradually weaken in the future.
Therefore, while continuing to compete with other vendors/products to provide
low power consumption equipment, it is important for networking equipment
vendors to create new product differentiation factors as well," says
Kenichi Kusano, analyst, Communications Research, IDC Japan.
