Abstract
This IDC study analyzes the state, characteristics, and future direction of the security services
provided by Japanese communications carriers based on information obtained through interviews with
the leading communications carriers. Besides analyzing the market by service category, this study
also forecasts the market size for 2004 to 2009.
"The Personal Information Protection Law which came into force in April 2005 indeed has a
great impact on security service providers including communications carriers. Security services may
be classified as either "network security" or "information security." In the
former group, new technologies are employed in the various services like authentication, quarantine,
and audit services, and they are contributing to the markets long-term growth. In the latter group,
the demand for information leakage measures (security-related SI/consulting) is on the upsurge and
this is spurring the present market expansion," says IDC Japan Communication Group Research
Manager, Toshihiro Mishima. |
