Abstract
This IDC study provides an overview of the IPTV (IPTV) market and profiles of
the leading SPs offering this service in the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or
APEJ region. This study covers the seven key markets tracked by IDC
Asia/Pacific's Consumer Market Research: Australia, Hong Kong, India, Korea,
the People's Republic of China (PRC), Singapore, Taiwan, and the rest of
Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or ROAPEJ.
"The IPTV market in APEJ is still in its early stages of commercial deployment,
with strong growth projected throughout the forecast period," says Claudio
Checchia, research manager, Consumer Market Research, IDC Asia/Pacific. "While
the APEJ region remains quite heterogeneous, the main growth engines for IPTV
will be Korea, the PRC, and India, which will show the highest compound annual
growth rates (CAGRs) during the forecast period. To meet the growing consumer
demand for more choices in terms of television (TV) content, IDC expects more
operators to focus on providing compelling content at competitive prices,
rolling out a combination of live broadcasting, video on demand (VOD), and
interactive features on their IPTV platforms."
