Abstract
This IDC study provides both quantitative and qualitative analyses of the 2005
U.S. single-function printer market. The overall U.S. single-function printer
market grew 6% in 2005, compared with shipments in 2004. A total of 17.71
million units were shipped during 2005. Both inkjet and laser shipments
experienced positive year-on-year growth.
"There is still a lot of opportunity in the printer market. Inkjet printers
belied expectations and showed positive growth in 2005, and growth was seen
across the laser segment, particularly in the high-end speed segments in the
case of monochrome laser printers and in each of the speed segments in the case
of color laser printers. These could be seen as definite indicators for
continued growth, at least in the laser printer segments." - Sahaja Sarathy,
