Abstract
This IDC study describes the information sources that small and medium-sized
businesses (SMBs) use for voice and data services and equipment and looks at
the ways in which they obtain their information. In addition, the presence of
full-time IT staff is examined.
"A one-size-fits-all approach is not appropriate when it comes to disseminating
information about technology to SMBs," says Merle Sandler, senior research
analyst in the SMB and Home Office programs at IDC. "Technology providers can
better target their marketing by understanding the preferences that SMBs have
for different information sources during technology purchase decisions and how
they go about obtaining information from these different sources."
