Abstract
This IDC study reveals how key power sector customers in China use IT
applications and explains the development trends of various solutions.
Moreover, this study provides a forecast of the IT applications and solutions
market in the power sector for the next five years, and an analysis of the
competitive structure among key IT solutions vendors in China's power sector.
In addition, it also analyzes power enterprises' overall IT spending by
solution and by region, as well as the market development trends for key power
IT solutions.
"The separation of plants from grids, price-based competitive grid access," and
other reform initiatives will further intensify the competition among power
enterprises, demanding them to constantly cut operating costs to maintain their
market position. In fact, when the informatization of network marketing systems
reaches a certain level, the best way to reduce operating cost is the direct
reduction of power costs. This poses new requirement for power generators to
cut production costs. Corporate management information systems (MISs) such as
enterprise resource planning (ERP), enterprise assets management (EAM),
customer relationship management (CRM), and office automation (OA) will be
increasingly adopted," comments Jacky Chen, market analyst, Vertical Research
Group, IDC China.
