Abstract
This IDC study presents the industry developments related to fixed-mobile
convergence (FMC) for enterprises. This study analyzes the various models and
standards that are emerging for enterprise FMC. The study gives IDC's
assessment of the timelines for the maturity and adoption of the enterprise FMC
models and standards. The study also provides an understanding of the factors
shaping enterprise FMC such as device availability, end-point solutions, and
wireless VoIP. The study profiles key vendors that are currently offering FMC
solutions.
"In the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ region, enterprise FMC will
follow the trajectory of IP PBX adoption among enterprises," says Shalini
Verma, senior market analyst, Enterprise Mobility Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
"In the short term, enterprises will deploy FMC for better control of their
communication expenses. In the medium term, greater availability of business
applications and a consistent end-user experience across fixed and mobile
networks will decide the success of enterprise FMC," she adds.
