Abstract
This IDC study analyzes the broadband Internet access service market in
Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ from 2005 to 2010. This study follows
the key broadband access technologies of DSL, cable modem, metro Ethernet,
fixed wireless access (FWA), and other emerging technologies such as satellite
and powerline.
Key features include market overviews and forecasts on subscribers and revenue
for 10 country markets - Australia, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia, the
Philippines, the People's Republic of China (PRC), Singapore, Taiwan, and
Thailand - that are separated by product categories.
"In the APEJ region, the broadband access market continues to show growth;
while more advanced markets are quickly approaching saturation, developing
markets are starting to enter a growth phase in terms of basic access," says
Tim Crowley, research manger, Telecommunications Services, IDC Asia/Pacific.
"The content market also continues to grow as service providers (SPs) are now
looking at their options to exploit broadband connections to end users."
