Abstract
This IDC study, which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J6050104,
analyzes the issues arising from corporate network changes and the
technological/product trends that address these issues. This study also
analyzes the shift toward application-aware networks among network equipment
vendors and the trends pertaining to the integrated network message routing as
equipment that realize application integration and optimization. The integrated
network message routing market is still at the introductory stage. The most
important factor for the establishment and growth of the integrated network
message routing market is a rise in XML traffic resulting from the increased
use of service oriented architecture (SOA) and Web services. IDC believes that
the functions of integrated network message routing may be integrated with
those of Layer 4-7 switch and firewall products in the future.
"To promote the permeation of business system- and application-aware networks
among customers, it is necessary for network equipment vendors to strengthen
collaborations with business application vendors and application deployment
software vendors other than existing partners. It is also necessary for vendors
to forge relationships with general systems integrators that count large
corporations among their customers," comments Kenichi Kusano, market analyst,
Communications IDC Japan.
