Abstract
This IDC study presents the dynamics and development trends of radio frequency
identification (RFID) applications in China through detailed analysis of the
RFID trans-industry application solution market in 2005. The study provides
forecasts for the RFID application and solution market in the next five years
and illustrates the competitive structure of the 2005 RFID solution market in
China. A review of ultrahigh frequency (UHF) RFID application spending by
product and industry, as well as the future outlook, is also presented.
"The RFID vertical industry application market was estimated at US$180.12
million in China in 2005, in which UHF RFID application accounted for only
10.6% at US$19.1 million. IDC predicts that by 2010, revenue will reach
US$3.64 million, with a 2005-2010 compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 82.4%.
UHF RFID application revenue will reach US$1.06 million by 2010, and its
2005-2010 CAGR is forecast at 123.1%. Assets management and supply chain are
the major application fields for UHF RFID in 2005. By 2010, the largest share
in the overall market will be supply chain, while assets management, in
contrast, will fall to second position," says Freda Tong, senior market
