Abstract
This IDC study provides vendor profiles of a sample of key and emerging
security service providers (SPs) in the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ)
security service market, including IBM, LogicaCMG, Telstra/KAZ, Unisys, and
Verizon Business Security Solutions Powered by Cybertrust.
"The ANZ security service market is highly fragmented with several large and
small vendors targeting disparate market segments. Players range from "one-man"
shops, specialist security service firms, global and local systems integrators
(SIs) and consulting firms, telecommunications and network SPs, outsourcers,
and security product vendors. As a result, the security service market is
expected to be highly competitive even if, in many cases, security SPs are
approaching the market in unique ways, targeting different segments and
installed customer bases, hence competing indirectly rather than head to head.
Based on current observations and future expectations, the key growth areas
include Web application security, information protection and control, and
privacy and identity management services. SPs with end-to-end security service
capabilities are expected to have advantages as customers often prefer working
with single trusted advisors. As a result, IDC expects the consolidation trend
observed in the security service market to continue," says Patrik Bihammar,
senior analyst, Security Solutions Research, IDC ANZ.
