Abstract
This study contains an assessment of the Western European cable modem equipment
market in 2006 and a forecast for 2007 to 2011. Shipment and revenue
expectations are provided, by country, for CMTS and cable modems. Cable modems
that are integrated in set-top boxes for the purpose of adding interactivity to
TV services are excluded.
"As growth rates for the level of broadband subscribers are decreasing, the
market for cable modem equipment is increasingly driven by replacement and
network upgrades," said Jan Hein Bakkers, research manager at IDC. "VoIP and
increasing bandwidth are key accelerators behind this development."
