Abstract
This IDC study looks at the worldwide market for plasma displays. It includes a
market forecast for 2007-2011 split by region and screen size.
"Significant price point and technology challenges posed by LCD TV will
continue to pressure plasma through our forecast period. 2007 has seen LCD TV
get big and cheap, all the while sporting like or higher resolutions compared
with plasma. The average selling prices (ASPs) for plasma are expected to
continue to decline aggressively through 2011, and its worldwide unit growth
will be stagnant due to overwhelming consumer citations for LCD as a preferred
future TV technology." - Eric Haruki, research director, TV Markets and
Technologies
