Abstract
This IDC study presents an updated look at the worldwide PC marketplace going
forward. It incorporates the latest quarter (3Q07) with the forecast up to
2011. It is valid as of December 2007 and provides forecast and growth figures
for PC shipments at the worldwide level and for key regional markets. Details
include unit, value, and average system price (ASP) figures, including CAGRs
for the period from 2006 to 2011. For comparison purposes, the tables in this
document also include historical figures for 2004-2006.
"The PC market looks poised for a relatively strong 2008, with growth
continuing to stem from portable adoption, consumer demand, retail, and growth
in emerging markets. Some risk could come from the economic uncertainty
affecting the United States, some component shortages, the potential delay in
corporate refreshes, and other factors. We expect to see relatively strong
growth for the next several years, with double-digit increases projected
through 2009," says Doug Bell, research analyst, PC Tracker.
