Abstract
This IDC study updates the previously published Asia/Pacific Branded Tape
Automation Market, 2007-2011 (IDC #AP2672IDP, August 2007). This study relates
to the tape automation systems market and provides the following market data:
- A summary of the market in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ in 1H07 compared with the data in 1H06
- Revenue and unit shipments broken down by country, class/technology, library size, and vendor
- Forecasts for the market from 2007 to 2011 for the region, as well as separate forecasts for each of the 13 countries covered
"The tape automation market has stayed remarkably resilient albeit hype around
disk-based backup and recovery. Despite the relegation of tape to an archival
role, many end users around the region still use tape at some point in their
backup and recovery operations. The value of shipments for the APEJ tape
automation market grew 34.2% in 1H07 compared with the revenue accrued in 1H06.
Likewise, tape automation systems shipped increased 9.1% from the year before,"
says Cheryl Ganesan-Lim, market analyst, Storage Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
