Abstract
This IDC study examines the global small and medium-sized business (SMB) market
for advanced technology products and services. Total IT spending is presented
from 2008 to 2012, along with the baseline year of 2007. Detail on spending
totals is provided for hardware, software, and services technology areas: PCs
and peripherals, systems and storage, applications software, and IT services.
"SMB technology spending will continue to vary greatly by company size,
geography, and IT category," said IDC vice president of SMB research Raymond
Boggs. "PCs and servers are setting the stage for advanced solutions across
regions, and the growing interest of technology providers will pay real
dividends." Boggs also noted that the SMB IT spending will top $615 billion in
2012.
