Abstract
This IDC study provides detailed analysis, conclusions, and forecasts regarding
the dynamics of the personal computer market in the countries of the
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) not covered in other IDC studies -
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova,
Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The information in this study is
intended to provide an understanding of the changes and challenges facing the
PC industry. IDC' s 2006 figures and analysis are based on information gathered
from interviews with the leading IT companies (vendors, distributors,
assemblers, systems integrators, value-added resellers, and dealers) active in
the region.
"The CIS PC market continued to surge in 2006, registering growth of close to
30% in volume, with the total market topping 900,000 units. It will continue to
be a promising arena over the next few years. But it is a complicated one, and
vendors need to tread carefully. Upon closer examination, some markets are more
attractive than others, some beset by restrictive government regulations,
notably on currency conversion, while most are very price sensitive." - Zarina
