Abstract
This IDC study quantifies the U.S. MFP market in detail, analyzing issues,
trends, and product advances. It contains IDC' s review and forecast of the U.S.
MFP market for 2003-2012. Unit shipment, value of shipment, and average selling
value (ASV) information is presented. Data for 2003-2007 is actual, whereas
data for 2008-2012 is projected. Key findings include:
- IDC anticipates a small 4% unit CAGR for the total U.S. MFP market from 2007 to 2012. However, there are pockets of opportunity within this market that show substantially higher growth potential.
- The product segments exhibiting the strongest unit growth opportunity for vendors include the inkjet, 21ppm+ monochrome laser, and color laser MFP segments.
"The double-digit MFP market growth exhibited in the past year offers hardcopy
vendors a compelling argument for participating in this market. IDC' s U.S. MFP
forecast identifies the pockets of growth within this market to give hardcopy
vendors the best financial payback versus maturing single-function markets." -
