Abstract
This IDC study presents results from IDC' s 2007 Consumer Panel Broadband and
Home Networking Survey. Included in this study are results pertaining to the
broadband services market in the United States. Specific topics include
respondents' current broadband subscription, their reasons for choosing their
broadband provider, and whether they had switched providers or technologies
previously, as well as their subscription and usage of applications. Results
for each question are presented in tables showing results by primary broadband
access method.
"Competition between cable operators and telcos for broadband subscribers
remains fierce. Findings from IDC' s 2007 survey of broadband consumers show
that one-fourth of respondents indicated they are thinking of switching
providers or technologies in the coming year. Clearly, broadband providers need
to redouble their efforts to retain their existing customers and lure a
competitor' s customers over to their service by differentiating their broadband
offerings through a combination of bandwidth increases and price reductions." -
