Abstract
This IDC study contains a five-year forecast for software maintenance revenue,
including a comparison with total software revenue.
"Given the dynamic nature of the software industry and the fact that vendors
are not going to give up their focus on building recurring revenue streams
including maintenance anytime soon, IDC expects to see a lot of change in terms
of vendor approaches to software maintenance," said Amy Konary, research
director for Software Pricing, Licensing, and Delivery. "While a large and
mature market, it is certainly not an uninteresting one."
