Abstract
This study examines the evolving dynamics of the Unix server market. According
to Beatriz Valle, analyst for IDC European Systems and Infrastructure Solutions
team, "The Unix market is becoming intensely competitive and vendors need to
leverage both their technology and their sales and channel expertise if they
want to keep their share of this market. Unix revenue in Western Europe was
overtaken by Windows for the first time in 2007, with 33% against 34% of the
total revenue. This trend is forecast to continue, with CAGR for the period
2007-2012 projected at -6.1%."
