Abstract
This IDC study quantifies the U.S. peripherals market opportunity and analyzes
its issues, trends, and product advances. The study includes printer, MFP, and
copier forecasts and combines them to examine the total market. The forecasts
contain data for the U.S. market from 2003 through 2012. Unit shipment, value
of shipments, and average selling value (ASV) information are presented. Data
for 2003-2007 is actual, whereas data for 2008-2012 is projected.
"The struggling U.S. economy continues to affect IT spending and likewise has
stunted the growth of the hardcopy peripheral space. Despite declining U.S.
consumption, vendors will continue to seek revenue potential through lucrative
pockets of opportunity that could stimulate growth in a mature market. By
examining the hardcopy opportunity in its entirety as presented in this
analysis, vendors can better position themselves for ongoing success in this
increasingly competitive market," said Akia Ramsay, research analyst, Hardcopy
Peripherals Solutions and Services.
