Abstract
This IDC study reveals the market size and forecast for the system
infrastructure software (SIS) market consisting of four secondary markets
according to IDC' s Software Taxonomy, 2008: system and network management
software (SNMS), security software, storage software, and systems software. IDC
estimated that the overall SIS market in the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or
APEJ region was worth US$5714 million in 2007. This represents year-over-year
(YoY) growth rate of 12.5%, which is comparatively slower than that of 2006.
"Security software and storage software posted the highest growth rates in the
SIS space as predicted, and remain the hot areas of investment in the near
future. Virtualization software will emerge and gain more traction and growth
in the system software market, even though OS software will continue to
dominate the overall SIS market size," says Daphne Chung, senior research
manager, Asia/Pacific System Infrastructure and Middleware Software Research,
IDC Asia/Pacific.
