Abstract
This IDC study examines the top players in the 2007 collaborative applications
market. It provides estimates for the leading vendor market shares based on
worldwide revenue for 2007 as part of a five-year historical view (2003-2007)
of the overall collaborative applications market and four of its submarkets:
integrated collaborative environments, messaging applications (which represents
the combination of enterprise instant messaging applications and management
products, standalone email applications, and unified messaging applications),
conferencing applications, and team collaborative applications.
A four-dimensional IDC competitive market map presents a visual view of the top
10 collaborative applications vendors based on worldwide revenue in 2007. In
addition, a three-region view of these vendors is also presented for the
Americas; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa [EMEA]; and Asia/Pacific.
"Collaborative applications were in great demand in 2007, generating $6.3
billion in worldwide revenue, driven mainly by unified communications,
software-as-a-service (SaaS) and enterprise 2.0 offerings." - Mark Levitt,
program VP, Collaborative Computing, IDC
