Abstract
This IDC study provides detailed analysis, conclusions, and forecasts regarding
the dynamics of the Central and Easter Europe (Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Czech
Republic, Rumania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Rest of
CEE) personal computer market. The information in this study is intended to
provide an understanding of the changes and challenges facing the PC industry.
IDC' s 2007 figures and analysis are based on information gathered from
interviews with leading IT companies (vendors, distributors, assemblers, system
integrators, value-added resellers, and dealers) active in the region.
"The PC market in the region of Central and Eastern Europe in 2007 once again
experienced a successful year in terms of both shipments and revenue. Key
factors to underline the development of the PC market in the region are the
strong uptake of notebooks, which does not seem to show any sign of slowing,
and the still very positive results of the desktop market. The latter factor
contrasts with the situation in Western European, where the desktop form factor
continues to suffer." - Stefania Lorenz, Systems Research Director, IDC CEMA.
